i have been married for 10 yrs with three kids, ages 7, 2, and 1. i have only been running for 5 months and love it! i am a self-admitted treadmill junkie-the thought of open roads scare me! but hopefully things will change as i progress.

again with a late run today (1130) but just because of the holiday last night. it felt really good this time to run because i really over did it last night with the junk food and eating way past the time when i was supposed to quit. i am noticing that my right ham is tightening up as i increase my speed-could this be due to over exertion (to fast too soon)?

in the am was able to run 2 miles in 18 flat. in the pm hit the gym with my friend and gabbbed my way through 3.25 at a fast walking pace. noticed my cold coming back-ugh! i think it is sleep related because the last couple of nights my little boy has not been sleeping, therefore i have not been sleeping and my soar throat and sinuses are not good. oh well, i am coming to think this is a routine and getting used to it. i just think to myself that when i am well i will be able to burn one heck of a trail. heres to a much anticipated spring!

Don't you love it when you run or walk with a friend and next thing you know it's been 3, 5, 10 miles. It makes all the difference. I think everyone should have a running partner to gab with.

I hope you start feeling better soon! My little girl has been waking up a lot during the night, I know how much that really effects your health. I hope he starts feeling better too!

in the morning me and my partner went to a strength training class-wowie it kicked my butt! it's amazing that even though you run and think your in shape classes like these keep you humble! and i think i put in a couple of miles after i got home-but seeing how its thursday right now, the days seem to blur and i really can't remember....so i will say i did to make me feel good! =)

hit the gym in the pm with partner but was only able to stay for about a 1/2 hour-so i ran easy. boy the place was packed! i am hoping it will tapper off as the month goes on...darn n.y. resolutions!

in the a.m. went to the strength training class again with partner-didn't find it that strenuous so i ran when i got home. still wondering how people run outside in the middle of winter-i think i would be able to handle the cold and all but the roads are just a mess and so yucky! i wish there was a good running path around here that gets plowed and salted-totally jealous of those who have one!...so i am starting to amp myself up for spring/summer/fall running outside, i find myself day dreaming while running on the treadmill of tree lined paths and open fields where i can look and look and find something new to gaze at. ugh.

so my new shoes still have not came yet!!! it just makes running even worse cause i can only imagne how wonderful they are going to feel! i don't know if i will order online again, i would rather just go to the store and have them right then!

so if i were to sum up this post....waiting sucks!!!

Waiting does suck. Especially when you are waiting for something exciting (like new running shoes or spring). You are still kicking tail though. Nice mileage today!

in the a.m. ran 2 miles just to try out my NEW SHOES!!! love them! my feet were singing! then later that night hit the gym with my partner and ran another 4.25. we have our 5k this saturday and my partner is a little bit worried but she did 3 miles for the first time yesterday on a treadmill so i am sure running outside for 3 miles won't be anything like the treadmill and she'll do fine. i assured her we'll take it easy this week so we can perform our best on saturday.

went to strength training this morning...went well but don't think i will be running later today...shins are killing me-thinking it was the new shoes from yesterday...getting anxious about the race on saturday-this will be my first one and i have already decided to not set any records, just finishing will be enough. my partner took the kids to school today and she said it was 27F! so i figure my lungs will be burning and have no feeling in my legs, but at least i will be in good company.

What are you talking 27 degrees, that is balmy weather! haha Did you see the News article about how running when you get sick helps your immune system stronger and yada yada yada, I found it amuzing. Dont forget to tell us what you think about this crazy hobby after your race saturday!

From Camille on Thu, Jan 15, 2009 at 09:25:34

Good luck on Saturday. It will be so much fun, you'll see. In fact, after you compete in one race, it becomes addicting... so beware :o)

so i did it and LOVED IT - so much that it is so hard to just run on the tread mill. i had the "runners high" through out the rest of the day!!! who knew! my partner was great and the run went by really fast! i can't keep putting !!!! at the end of each sentence. it was a great experience and i look forward to running many more - i knew after the first (with all the fear and unexpected involved) that things would only get better.
